US markets end higher ahead of Fed policy decision

Traders are expecting that Fed will leave interest rate unchanged

The US markets extended their previous session's gains and ended in green on Tuesday ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s latest monetary policy decision to be announced on Wednesday. Traders are expecting that Fed will leave interest rate unchanged. Traders took note of report that U.S. pending home sales unexpectedly increased in February 2026. US pending home sales increased by 1.8% month-over-month in February 2026, reversing two consecutive months of declines and surpassing market expectations of a 0.5% drop. Regional performance varied, with gains in the Midwest (+4.6%), South (+2.7%), and West (+0.9%), while the Northeast saw a decline (-3.6%). On a year-over-year basis, pending home sales fell by 0.8%.  

Nasdaq increased 105.35 points or 0.47 percent to 22,479.53, S&P 500 added 16.71 points or 0.25 percent to 6,716.09 and Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 46.85 points or 0.1 percent to 46,993.26.
