Rupee appreciates against dollar on Thursday despite concerns over Trump tariffs
Finally, the rupee ended at 87.58 (Provisional), appreciated by 14 paise from its previous close of 87.72 on Wednesday

Indian rupee appreciated against the U.S. dollar on Thursday despite US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to impose an additional 25% tariff on India, on the top of already imposed 25%. Traders took note of report that Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to US President Donald Trump raising tariffs on India from 25% to 50% and said that India will not compromise on the interests of farmers, livestock holders, and fishermen. As per reports, the US has been demanding broad access to India's agricultural and dairy market - a sensitive sector that influences the livelihoods of millions of farmers. On the global front, euro strengthened against other major currencies in the European session on Thursday, as European shares rallied following the implementation of Trump's extensive ‘reciprocal’ tariffs, which include a blanket 15% tax on exports from the EU.
Finally, the rupee ended at 87.58 (Provisional), appreciated by 14 paise from its previous close of 87.72 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 87.77 and 87.45 respectively.
