India's exports of castor oil decline 6% in June 2025

India exported castor oil worth Rs 730.63 crore in June 2025 as against Rs 694.93 crore in June 2024

Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) has said that India's export of castor oil declined 5.56% to 56,412 metric tonnes (MT) (Provisional) in the month of June 2025 as compared to 59,737 MT (Provisional) in the same month last year. In the value terms, India exported castor oil worth Rs 730.63 crore in June 2025 as against Rs 694.93 crore in June 2024, i.e. up by 5.13%. 

According to SEA data, India's export of castor oil stood at 188,767 MT in Q1FY26 as compared to 222,324 MT in Q1FY25. In the month of May 2025, castor oil export stood at 68,982 MT, while its value stood at Rs 882.46 crore. 

India is the largest producer of castor seed in the world and Gujarat is the largest in India. Castor oil is an important ingredient for the global specialty chemical industry as it is the only commercial source of hydroxylate fatty acid. Castor oil is used for a number of industrial applications including paints, varnish, resins and plasticisers.
