Indian rupee shows mild strength against dollar on Wednesday

The rupee ended at 90.90 (Provisional), strengthened by 5 paise from its previous close of 90.95 on Tuesday

Indian rupee showed mild strength against the U.S. dollar on Wednesday. Investors remained optimistic after a research report from State Bank of India's (SBI’s) Economic Research Department has showed that the Indian economy is likely to record a growth rate close to 8.1% for the September-December quarter of current fiscal year (Q3FY26) under the revised series with the new base year of 2022-23. It also said given significant methodological changes, it is difficult to predict the direction of revision. Meanwhile, traders remained cautious amid uncertainties surrounding US trade tariffs and talks between US and Iran. On the global front, the Japanese yen weakened against other major currencies in the European session on Wednesday as investors lowered their expectations for the rate of interest rate hikes by the Bank of Japan (BoJ) when the government nominated two reflationists to the BoJ board.

Finally, the rupee ended at 90.90 (Provisional), strengthened by 5 paise from its previous close of 90.95 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 90.96 and 90.88 respectively.
