Nifty snaps three day losing streak post Fed rate cut
Nifty December 2025 futures closed at 26014.00 (LTP) on Thursday, at a premium of 115.45 points over spot closing of 25898.55
Snapping three-day losing streak, Indian equity benchmark -- Nifty -- ended with gains of over half a percent on Thursday. Index made a cautious start following broadly negative cues from other Asian markets. Besides, persistent foreign fund outflow dampened investors sentiments. As per exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors sold equity worth Rs 1,651.06 crore on Wednesday. But soon, market managed to gained traction. Market participants took some support with the U.S. Federal Reserve’s 25-basis-point rate cut decision. Further, some optimism also came with Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) V. Anantha Nageswaran’s statement that the India and the US have resolved most of their pending trade issues. In afternoon session, market continued its firm trade in green and maintained it till the end of the session. Investors remained optimistic as the government in its latest report stated that the banking activity has strengthened significantly in India, with domestic deposits and credit nearly tripling between 2015 and 2025. Finally, Nifty ended above 25,850 mark.
Most of the sectorial indices ended in green except Media and Oil & Gas stocks. The top gainers from the F&O segment were Vodafone Idea, Dixon Technologies (India) and BSE. On the other hand, the top losers were Supreme Industries, AU Small Finance Bank and Aditya Birla Capital. In the index option segment, maximum OI continues to be seen in the 25900 - 26100 calls and 25900 - 26100 puts indicating this is the trading range expectation.
India Volatility Index (VIX), a gauge for market’s short-term expectation of volatility decreased by 4.69% and reached 10.40. The 50 share Nifty up by 140.55 point or 0.55% to settle at 25,898.55.
Nifty December 2025 futures closed at 26014.00 (LTP) on Thursday, at a premium of 115.45 points over spot closing of 25898.55, while Nifty January 2026 futures ended at 26170.00 (LTP), at a premium of 271.45 points over spot closing. Nifty December futures saw a contraction of 6,777 units, taking the total open interest (Contracts) to 2,17,985 units. The near month derivatives contract will expire on December 30, 2025. From the most active contracts, InterGlobe Aviation December 2025 futures traded at a premium of 24.00 points at 4845.50 (LTP) compared with spot closing of 4821.50. The numbers of contracts traded were 30,609. (Provisional)
Dixon Technologies (India) December 2025 futures traded at a premium of 34.00 points at 12998.00 (LTP) compared with spot closing of 12964.00. The numbers of contracts traded were 29,909. (Provisional)
Kaynes Technology India December 2025 futures traded at a premium of 22.50 points at 4050.00 (LTP) compared with spot closing of 4027.50. The numbers of contracts traded were 24,464. (Provisional)
HDFC Bank December 2025 futures traded at a premium of 4.50 points at 1004.40 (LTP) compared with spot closing of 999.90. The numbers of contracts traded were 19,055. (Provisional)
Infosys December 2025 futures traded at a premium of 6.40 points at 1602.60 (LTP) compared with spot closing of 1596.20. The numbers of contracts traded were 18,648. (Provisional)
Among, Nifty calls, 26000 SP from the December month expiry was the most active call with a contraction of 10,224 units open interests. Among Nifty puts, 26000 SP from the December month expiry was the most active put with a contraction of 3,288 units open interests. The maximum OI outstanding for Calls was at 26000 SP (1,03,842 units) and that for Puts was at 26000 SP (92,792 units). The respective Support and Resistance levels of Nifty are: Resistance 25983.15 -- Pivot Point 25838.20 -- Support 25753.60.
The Nifty Put Call Ratio (PCR) finally stood at (1.03) for December month contract. The top five scrips with highest PCR on Oracle Financial Services Software (1.21), Coal India (1.09), Petronet LNG (1.06), TVS Motor Company (0.97) and The Federal Bank (0.94).
Among most active underlying InterGlobe Aviation witnessed an addition of 2,853 units of Open Interest in the December month future, Dixon Technologies (India) witnessed an addition of 3,622 units of Open Interest in the December month future, Kotak Mahindra Bank witnessed an addition of 2,751 units of Open Interest in the December month futures, Vodafone Idea witnessed a contraction of 815 units of Open Interest in the December month futures and Infosys witnessed an addition of 4,369 units of Open Interest in the December month futures.
