Summer crops sowing covers area of 64.10 lakh hectare so far in 2026
Final Summer Area in 2025 was 83.92 lakh hectare
Summer crops sowing has covered an area of 64.10 lakh hectare as on April 10, 2026, which is 1.22% higher compared to 63.33 lakh hectare area covered under summer crops in corresponding period of last year (2025). Final Summer Area in 2025 was 83.92 lakh hectare.
Of the total, Rice has been sown in 30.59 lakh hectare as on April 10, lower compared to 32.30 lakh hectare in corresponding period a year ago. The area covered under pluses (Greengram, Blackgram, Other Pulses) rose to 11.54 lakh hectares as on April 10 compared to 10.71 lakh hectares during the corresponding period of the previous year.
The coverage under Shree Anna cum Coarse Cereals (Jowar, Bajra, Ragi, Small Millets, and Maize) increased to 13.67 lakh hectares as on April 10 against 12.70 lakh hectares in corresponding period a year ago. The sowing area of Oilseeds (Groundnut, Sunflower, Sesamum, and Other Oil seeds) increased to 8.31 lakh hectares as on April 10 as compared to 7.62 lakh hectares in corresponding period a year ago.
