NLC India’s JV completes TG Rolling & Synchronization of Unit 2 of Ghatampur Thermal Power Project

NLC India’s joint venture company (JV) -- Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power (NUPPL) has successfully completed TG Rolling & Synchronization of Unit-2 (660 MW) of its 1,980 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Project with the 765 kV grid in a single go and well ahead of lead time required against the schedule after Steam Blowing milestone completion. This successful synchronization plays a crucial step forward in NUPPL's journey toward the Commercial Operation Declaration (COD). The development underlines NUPPL's commitment to deliver 31.68 million units as reliable and sustainable power generation for the nation. Further, the Units-3 of the plant is expected to be commissioned in FY-25-26. 

NUPPL is a joint venture company between NLC India holding 51% stake and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (UPRVUNL) holding 49% stake in NUPPL. The Ghatampur Thermal Power Project, located in Ghatampur Tehsil, Kanpur Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, comprises three supercritical thermal power units of 660 MW each, totalling 1,980 MW. The project is designed to supply 75.12% of its power (1,487.28 MW) to Uttar Pradesh and 24.88% (492.72 MW) to the state of Assam. In addition to the power plant, NUPPL is also making strides in the development of the linked coal mine, Pachwara South Coal Block in Dumka District, Jharkhand, which will provide a sustainable source of fuel for the end-use Power Plant.
